Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Committee
The Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Committee has responsibility to provide sexual misconduct prevention programs to all ministers annually and to provide for pastoral care for those involved in sexual misconduct investigations and trials. The complete description of the Committee’s make up and work is found in the Sexual Misconduct Response Policy in the policy section of the Presbytery manual.
Prevention Training Required for Pastoral Leadership* and Optional for Other Church Staff and Leadership
Safe Gatherings is an online resource providing two hour courses and certification of completion in: (1) Clergy and Ministerial Ethics and (2) Abuse Prevention.
Central Florida Presbytery has contracted with Safe Gatherings to provide required Clergy and Ministerial Ethics training to all *clergy, commissioned pastors, candidates and inquirers at no cost to those taking the course. This 6-module, 2-hour course, will take users through the top issues challenging today’s clergy and church leadership, and how they can navigate these ethical conundrums. Some of these issues include technology, sexualized behavior and misconduct, addiction, behavior with children and youth, narcissism, plagiarism, and more.

Abuse Prevention training is also available at no cost to pastoral leaders in congregations. The Abuse Prevention course is available to other leaders at $47 per person and is recommended especially for all staff and volunteers who work with children and youth or with vulnerable adults. Congregations in this presbytery may purchase all additional courses available through https://congregationu.com/ at a 20% discount.
