News from the Interim Co-Executive PresbytersJust like the sand on the beach shifts during each tidal cycle, our lives shift even when we don’t realize it. Even the most stable of schedules shift, depending on something as simple as how much sleep we get, daily traffic, or our daily mood. Our time with you involves shifting sands, some slowly, like a tidal shift and some turbulent, like a storm surge. We recognize that with shifting sand, what was there, alters, and what is left are new patterns in the sand.
One shift, one new pattern is new office hours. The Central Florida Presbytery office, at 3101 Maguire Blvd, Suite 244, Orlando, is now open Monday-Thursday 9:00-1:00. We are glad that you will be willing to work with us and will plan to come during those hours of the day. If you imagine that you need to visit at a different time, please plan in advance by 3-5 business days, to learn when a staff person may be present to have the door unlocked. Also, be sure to plan for the possibility that there could be times when it is not possible for any staff presence in the physical office space, in order to visit ministers and churches, taking a vacation or study event. Still staff is available by phone, by leaving a message, or by email. With these shifts, if you need to come by the office after 1:00, please call and make an appointment. Fridays, some staff work from home, so no one is in the office, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. With this shift comes an invitation. The Staff invites Sessions, Deacons, Presbyterian Women and Men’s Groups, Sunday School Teachers and Youth Staff. or any church members to set up a time for a field trip to the office! As the office opened right before COVID and was then closed, many of you have probably not seen where your presbytery staff works and the Resource Center. As you saw, Mt. Dora PC’s Session came in to tour the office and Resource Center last month, and we welcome more! It can be a lot of fun, and we would love to show you around! These shifts in the Presbytery’s “sand” are new opportunities. Another opportunity is the Central Florida Presbytery Day of Prayer on April 19. I know there is more about this in The Connections so again, this is an invitation to join with Sisters and Brothers within our Presbytery as we open our hearts, minds and souls to the power of prayer. Shifts occur when God moves amongst us. Communal Prayer is one of those God moments. Please plan on joining others at one of the designated places, to seek where the Spirit is leading us as we look forward. Peace, Olivia and Hoover Co-Interim Executive Presbyters |
