New Worshiping Communities
What are New Worshiping Communities?  In June 2012, the Presbyterian Church USA declared a commitment to creating 1001 new worshiping communities in the next 10 years.  The Presbyterian Mission Agency is working with presbyteries across the US to help fan the flames of the Holy Spirit's movement to create new and diverse worshiping communities.  For more information, please check out this link:
 https://www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/1001-2/about-1001/the-definition/

Who do I talk to in the Central Florida Presbytery about a NWC idea?  The New Church Development committee of our Central Florida Presbytery journeys with all New Worshiping Communities.  As you begin to develop your NWC idea, please make sure to contact the chair of the New Church Development committee and they will help you determine how to navigate your next steps with our presbytery and 1001 New Worshiping Communities.

What funding is available for New Worshiping Communities?
A series of grants are available from 1001 New Worshiping Communities to help fund a New Worshiping Community (NWC) in our presbytery.  Additionally, when a NWC is awarded a Seed Grant, Investment Grant and/or Growth Grant. For Investment and Growth grants, our presbytery will match each grant award with up to $25,000 (may also be given in in-kind support or a mix of both).  Please note that the Investment Grant and Growth Grant each are to cover an 18 month period of time.  For a complete list of grants, check out this link:
https://www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/1001-2/mission-program-grants/

Discerning your call to lead a NWC is a process and we can help!  Both our New Church Development committee of our presbytery and 1001 New Worshiping Communities have lots of resources to assist you in figuring out where the Holy Spirit is moving.  For more information on resources available through our presbytery, please contact the New Church Development committee chair.  For discernment resources through 1001 New Worshiping Communities, check out this link: https://www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/1001-2/assessment/
