The Church of Jesus Christ in Madagascar, also known as the “FJKM” (the abbreviation of the Malagasy translation), is PC(USA)’s global partner in Madagascar. FJKM was formed in 1968 and has nearly six million members, or more than 40% of Madagascar’s Christian population.

MADAGASCAR MISSION NETWORK CONFERENCE A SUCCESS
by Barbara Sayles, CFP Hunger Action Advocate

It took lots of hard work and collaborative effort to pull off our 2020 Virtual MMN conference but it paid off, It was a tremendous experience for the 138 registered, with so many high quality presentations and a wide base of participants. We believe we have laid some excellent groundwork for increased awareness and support for the work of the PATH Partners and mission co-workers Dan and Elizabeth Turk, The FJKM (The Church of Jesus Christ in Madagascar) for many years to come. This was truly a team effort, and we want to send a huge shout out of thanks and gratitude to everyone involved, including those from our very own Presbytery – Julie Rogers-Martin, Barbara Sayles, Dan and Elizabeth Turk - from designing the format, to overseeing the video production, securing film rights and panelists, preparing documents, spreading the word, registering participants, providing technical expertise, leading discussions, following up, and so much more.

The Conference opened with a “pre-conference” event on Thursday evening, the showing of the video – Ady Gasy, a documentary by Genese Sodikoff. We were honored to have Genese join us for a panel discussion of the video after the viewing.

The conference officially began on Friday morning with a range of diverse topics including Education, Public Health, COVID-19, Women’s Impact, and Agriculture. Excellent and esteemed Presenters included World Mission staff Dan and Elizabeth Turk, Christi Boyd, Doug Tilton and FJKM President Irako Andriamahazosoa Ammi.
