Family Activity for Lent: Making Pretzels
from Reformed Church of America Pretzels have an important meaning during Lent. People began to make them on Ash Wednesday, the very first day of Lent. The word "pretzel" is a German word meaning "little arms." The dough was shaped in such a way to look like two arms crossed in prayer. The Real Patrick from Vibrant Faith @ Home Saint Patrick was a real person, born in Britain in the year 385 C. E. He was once a slave, then ultimately a priest in Ireland. He brought many people to God at a time when many had turned away from the Lord. Family Worship: Lenten Candles from Vibrant Faith @ Home Join in a weekly candle ritual during Lent to deepen the concept of waiting and preparing for Easter. This may help family members appreciate more deeply the events of the last week of Jesus’ life as they prepare to celebrate the joy of Jesus’ resurrection. |
