Web Submissions Policy

The communications of Central Florida Presbytery, both print and electronic, will announce and/or report on issues and events pertinent to all levels of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and especially those particular congregations within the bounds of this Presbytery. Items which give evidence of the Christ-led ministry of Central Florida Presbytery are encouraged for communication throughout this Presbytery and, when appropriate, the Synod of South Atlantic and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Because of legal, ethical and theological concerns, those items which promote businesses or profit-making enterprises of individuals or groups will not be communicated through any media means of Central Florida Presbytery. This Communications Policy shall be applicable to all individuals, particular churches, and groups who wish to communicate through Central Florida Presbytery.

Web Submissions Guidelines:

  1. Items submitted for posting on the Central Florida Presbytery website should originate: within a congregation of CFP; from a CFP team, subteam, committee, structure, or related agency; or from a special mission supported by CFP.

  2. Items requiring a team/committee's approval should be directed to the team/subteam/committee chair before submission.

  3. The preferred submission method is via email as plain, unadorned, unformatted text, with graphics included as attachment.

  4. Email submissions and attachments should be sent to  Ruthie Merced at rmerced@cfpresbytery.org If a specific layout is desired, a PDF (Portable Document Format) should be sent. Image files will also be accepted; however, the final format on the website may be considerably different than the original.

  5. Clip art graphics should be GIF or TIFF format. Photos should be in JPG format and should be in full color. Prior to submission, submitter should ascertain that the clip art's copyright is licensed for publication on the Web. (All Microsoft and PC(USA) clip art are licensed for publication.)

  6. Employment postings from congregations should be brief descriptions (50 words or less) of available church-related non-pastoral positions. In addition, the posting should provide a contact name/information to which the application is to be submitted. Links to email or church websites will be posted, and a link to the actual job description document (when included) will also be made available within the brief description.

  7. To submit a resume relating to employment in CFP, a brief summary of fifty words or less should be submitted. The resume document, itself will be posted as a link within the "Personnel Available" listing (for non-pastoral positions only).

Deadlines and Expirations:

  1. Postings/information for the Central Florida presbytery website should be submitted electronically Ruthie Merced at rmerced@cfpresbytery.org Bulletin Board items should be submitted with a "start and stop" date specified. If none is included at the time of submission, a publication period of thirty days after submission will be assigned.

  2. Items with a specific timeline for publication will be removed within a few days following the designated ending date.

  3. Employment opportunities will automatically be removed after the date listed for submission of application/resume; extensions may be requested.

Editorial Responsibility and Policy Decisions:

  1. No item that could be damaging (e.g., libelous, abusive or obscene material) will be published in any form.

  2. Links to other web pages will be restricted to those web sources appropriate to the mission and membership of Central Florida presbytery and as contained in the Purpose Definition.

  3. Links to other web sites featuring advertising banners of an offensive nature will not be included on the CFP website.

  4. The Presbytery takes all reasonable steps to minimize legal liability to the church from the use of the Internet as a means of publication. This includes copyright issues, personal contact information, and appropriate image releases.

  5. The Central Florida Presbytery web presence, with the oversight of the Communications Subteam, will encourage high standards of design excellence in all aspects of the site. An atmosphere of freedom rather than control will be reflected in the use of the site within current CFP Communication Policy Guidelines.

  6. Selected documents of CFP, its teams or committees, which are public may be published on the CFP website, and if appropriate, the documents will contain the following notice: Copyright (year) Reproduced by permission of Central Florida Presbytery, PC(USA), Orlando, Florida.

  7. A library of relevant documents related to the work of Central Florida Presbytery will be maintained on the website. New printed matter will be added to this library when appropriate.

Privacy Policy:

  1. Individual street addresses, phone numbers, or personal email addresses may not be published without permission. Inclusion of a street address or an email address in a submission will be considered implied permission.

  2. All photographs of children and youth (or artwork by them) submitted for use on the Central Florida Presbytery website must be accompanied by a release form signed by the youngster's parent or guardian (Appendix B & C.)

  3. No information about any visitor to the Central Florida Presbytery website will be stored or sold. If applicable, financial information submitted for registration purposes will be transmitted on a separate, secure site.

 

It is the intention of this office to update the website every Friday; therefore, any submissions received later than Wednesday of any given week may not be included until the following Friday’s update.
