PHILADELPHIA BRAZILIAN FELLOWSHIP OUTREACH
by Rev. Helio Pacheco, Pastor
The Lord has helped us. We are already 5 months with this pandemic, but God has given us new strategies to keep our group together with help from Visiting Evangelist Marcello and his wife, Fabiana. In the weeks we spent in quarantine, we did zoom classes to train leaders to care for small groups, with a total of three groups of adults, and a group of young people and teenagers. After we left the quarantine, we started the meeting of 4 small groups and had 45 new people. We saw people wanting to seek God, but we noticed that when they returned to work, the number of people decreased. In that time we helped these families with the distribution of basic baskets, with the help of Pastor Frank's First Presbyterian Church, Kissimmee, that has been a blessing for our church.
Because of social detachment, we have a hard time coming face to face with people, so we’re back to making small groups online again. Of the 45 new people, we now have 9 adults and children who have stayed faithfully with us.
Our prayer is that the Lord God will shorten this time for all of us. We thank God for the life of you dear brothers of the Presbytery. May God continue to bless and protect you all in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Rev. Jody Noble, Chair of the Presbytery's New Church Development Committee adds, "Our committee has been partnering with Philadelphia Fellowship Group to bring Pastor Marcello and Fabiana to our presbytery by providing financial help with their R-1 visa and significant salary and rental expenses support since expected income from their ministry decreased as a result of COVID-19.
We are very grateful to be working with Philadelphia as they prepare to apply for a 1001 New Worshiping Community Seed Grant, and that First Presbyterian Kissimmee has been such a wonderful host for Philadelphia through the years for their evening worship services and in-person ministries."
