News from the Interim Co-Executive PresbytersPsalm 15 (The Message)
God, who gets invited to dinner at your place? How do we get on your guest list? “Walk straight, act right, tell the truth. “Don’t hurt your friend, don’t blame your neighbor; despise the despicable. “Keep your word even when it costs you, make an honest living, never take a bribe. “You’ll never get blacklisted if you live like this.” Within the Central Florida Presbytery, we know that God has invited us to dinner. Jesus has invited to remember his ministry, call and saving death of our risen lord until his coming. The Holy Spirit invited us to live out the covenant of Baptism to share the gospel grace with all others. The above translation of Psalm 15, shows a description that is modeled by the person of Jesus of Nazareth. We also are to keep our word to God, ourselves and each other. We are also to know there is no benefit in hurting, blaming, or despising anyone. I challenge us to consider this Psalm as we consider budgets, nominations, strategic planning, missions, generosity and stewardship, even take part in the elections of our state and national leaders. This a season to do the call and ideals of Psalm 15. These are the values that are to guide our choices and our work with each other in congregations, community and in God’s Church. Blessings to you all the Presbyterians in Central Florida! In Christ, Hoover and Olivia Haney |
