News from the Interim Co-Executive PresbytersMore from the Interim Co-Execs...The Home Stretch. At the race track, that phrase can refer to horse racing; in October, it can refer to baseball season; every four years, it can refer to Election Day. At this point, be it baseball or Election Day, we are in a Home stretch. In baseball, our home stretch is the World Series, the end of the season. The only thing this article has to do with voting is to encourage everyone who is eligible to vote, please exercise to your responsibly and right as a United States Citizen and vote. Vote, be it early, by mail, or on November 5, everyone should vote. This quick note is about moving forward after November 5. We are called to be siblings in Christ, siblings as we are all Children of God. After November 5, there will be winners and losers, and after words and actions, signage and commercials, how do we move forward? We move forward with compassion, grace, patience and understanding. We move forward in the Spirit of the Living God, seeking God’s Presence in our lives to guide us and walk with us. It’s not easy, it requires forgiveness and grace; it’s not impossible. As we move forward, let us remember this blessing: “Go with confidence into the days ahead, trusting in God’s unfailing love and faithfulness. God will not abandon you, for you are the work of God’s hands—His own creation—and God’s love endures forever. So go in joy to love and serve the Lord!” (Celtic Daily Prayer, Book Two, pg.1089) Peace, Olivia and Hoover |
