Greetings from the Moderator SEPTEMBER 2018
On a recent Sunday morning two members, Rev. Roger Browne and Phyllis, came to the Pastor’s office and handed me a quilt (at right) that Phyllis had made. I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the gift and even more taken back by the message it conveyed. It now hangs behind my desk as a constant reminder that, as members of the Body of Christ, we are commanded to love one another, as Christ loved us.
One way to show our love for others is, as Paul suggests in the passage that is woven into the back of this quilt, to be generous in every way.
The children are back to school and I am confident that most of our congregations made it possible for those in need to arrive with the necessary supplies, through your generosity. As I travel around the Presbytery I see the signs of generous outreach by our congregations.
As we begin another academic year, I pray that we will embrace Paul’s words and reach out sharing the blessings that we have received from God with others and therefore producing thanksgiving to God.
11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way,
which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.
