Greetings from the Moderator APRIL 2025
Grace and peace to you! Since the last time I wrote to you, I spent some time meeting with others in our Synod. It was great to hear how our siblings in Christ were sharing resources with one another. Some of this is happening at the Presbytery level, and some is happening at the local church level. Of course, the only way to get to the point of being able to share our resources is if we get to know one another… to develop relationships with those around us.
As Moderator, I have had the opportunity to visit Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church for the Installation of Rev. Dr. Jeff Beebe, and First Presbyterian Church New Smyrna Beach for the celebration of their 150th Anniversary. Prior to becoming Moderator, I was invited to preach at First Presbyterian Kissimmee. All of these churches have vibrant and welcoming congregations. I met authentic and caring individuals that were truly excited about being members of their church and about the ministries at their church. On April 6th, I’ll be visiting Westminster by the Sea Presbyterian Church for their 70th Anniversary celebration, and I’m certain I will meet more delightful individuals that are truly eager to share the amazing things they are doing to be the hands and feet of Christ in their community. This excitement is contagious! There is life and hope right here in Central Florida Presbytery! We need to share our excitement with one another. Do you have a thriving youth program? Have you recently updated your technology? Do you have a special way of reaching out beyond your walls? Tell us about it. Don’t be the best kept secret in the Presbytery… share your tips so we can help each other thrive. Do you have a concern about your ministries or perhaps how to engage volunteers? Do you need help training your leaders? Do you want to spice up the music side of your worship service? Reach out and ask! Let’s network with each other! And while we are at it… let’s remember to pray for each other. Maybe pick a church or two in our Presbytery each week and pray for them. Pray for the Elders and Deacons. Pray for the Pastor(s). Maybe even reach out to that church and let them know that you are praying for them. Let’s get excited about doing ministry TOGETHER!
