Cuba Partnership Trip Update
By Ken Lasseter, Co-Chair, Cuba Partnership Team

The Cuba Partnership team announces the next partnership trip to Cuba.  It will be March 2 through 9, 2023.  We will fly into Santa Clara and visit Presbyterian churches in the central part of Cuba, between Santa Clara and Sancti Spiritus.  The people have many needs and that is especially true now.  The past few years have been hard on the country.

This is the opportunity for those that have visited before to return to the church with which your church has formed a relationship.  You will spend 5 days at that church and be able to worship with them on Sunday, renew friendships, give them encouragement, and give them some of the things that you know they need.

This is a great opportunity for those of you that have not been on a Cuban mission trip to get to know fellow Christians who practice their faith under different conditions than we do here.  They are very friendly people and will greet you with open arms.  If your church does not have a relationship with a Cuban church, you will visit two churches that do not have a relationship with a church in the Central Florida Presbytery. You will stay in nice clean rooms at the church and will enjoy good and well prepared meals.  You will participate in the life of the church and visit people in their homes.  Conditions are clean and safe.  If the pastor at the church you visit does not speak English, you will be provided with an interpreter.

The estimated cost of the trip is about $1400 each per person.  This includes airplane ticket, food, travel, and lodging in Cuba.  It is estimated that about $350 to $400 of that amount will be provided by the Presbytery’s Lang Scholarship fund.  You can also apply to the Presbytery’s Mission Development Committee for an additional grant.  Your own church’s Missions Committee may also be able to help with some of your funding.  We are planning two orientation sessions that will provide more information as to what to carry and what to expect.  It is extremely important that each participant attend both of these meetings.

All applications must be received by December 18.  We will be traveling on a religious visa.
